A COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY

In keeping with the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission's mission, our members have committed to operating with transparency in their labels, marketing, communications, and practices.

Members have pledged to operate in an honest, transparent and non-deceptive fashion and only label their products as "American Single Malt Whisk(e)y" when the following guidelines are followed:

Member producers will make every effort to clearly and accurately convey their sourcing activities and methods of production in their marketing materials.

Brand names, labels and marketing materials will not mislead or create confusion for consumers.

Labels will clearly state the City and State of both distillation and of bottling.

Labels will comply with all TTB requirements.

The overall spirit and intention of these transparency guidelines is to prevent consumer confusion by encouraging our members to accurately and clearly represent their sourcing activities and how these interact with their own production. They are not intended to make members disclose every aspect of their production, but simply to help consumers understand what they’re drinking and where it comes from.
